Domestic Tech this Christmas

With Christmas just around the corner, it's a great time to snap up some of those tech products you've been lusting after all year. From retro gaming systems and smart watches through to home speakers and portable computing, 2016 has been a great year for technology. Let's take a look at five of the most enticing products available in the lead-up to Christmas, all of which are truly capable of bringing something new into your life.

Nintendo Classic Mini NES

Nintendo has finally decided to re-release their classic gaming system from the 1980s. Shipping complete with classic titles such as Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN, and Kirby‚Äôs Adventure, this little beige box is sure to bring back memories of your childhood. Unfortunately, the most desirable tech product of 2016 is also the most difficult to get your hands on, with Australian and New Zealand outlets only receiving small shipments, all of which are guaranteed to fly of the shelves.

Apple Series 2 Watch

The second iteration of Apple's smartwatch is one of the most desirable tech products this Christmas, with the Series 2 featuring 50-metre water resistance, a built-in GPS, and an ultra-fast dual-core processor. Apple has obviously been listening to their customers, with the Series 2 designed with a display that's twice as bright as the first generation watch. While the Apple watch is designed for on-the-go use, it's ability to communicate with other devices also makes it great tech to have at home.

Microsoft Surface Book

Microsoft's new Surface Books have been given prime real estate in online and offline stores in the lead-up to Christmas, and for very good reason. Marketed as the ultimate laptop and tablet, the Surface Book integrates the power of home computers with the futuristic interface and vibrant display of portable tablets. Whether you're at home or away, there isn't a machine on the planet quite like the Surface Book, which manages to do pretty much everything in style - albeit at a cost.

Google Home Speaker

The Google Home Speaker is a great solution for home entertainment and information, with this voice-controlled speaker capable of telling you the latest news and weather, keeping track of your appointments, controlling your smart home, and playing you're favourite music. While it faces stiff competition from the Amazon Echo, the Google device is cheaper and capable of connecting to multiple gadgets for playing music.

Google Pixel

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are the company's first serious move into the smartphone market. While Google have been powering Android phones for many years now, they've never developed hardware that perfectly fits their operating system. Both new phones feature an all-new Google Assistant that's powered by artificial intelligence, one of the best cameras in the business, a top-notch display, and excellent battery life. With the Pixel and Pixel XL benefiting from regular updates and seamless Android integration, these phones are likely to pose a threat to the iPhone market.
